Natural Remedies for Common Ailments in a Survival Scenario

In a survival scenario, access to medical care may be limited or non-existent. It is important to know how to treat common ailments using natural remedies found in the wilderness.

Here are some natural remedies for common ailments in a survival scenario:

  1. Headaches can be caused by stress, dehydration, hunger or lack of sleep. Drink plenty of water to relieve headaches naturally, and rest in a quiet place. You can also use peppermint oil by rubbing it on your temples or inhaling its scent.
  2. Injuries such as cuts and scrapes can easily become infected in a survival situation. Clean the wound with clean water and soap if available, then apply honey or crushed garlic directly onto the wound to prevent infection.
  3. Burns can occur from exposure to fire or hot surfaces while cooking food over an open flame. Apply cool water immediately to the affected area for at least 10 minutes, then apply aloe vera gel or honey on the burn.
  4. Diarrhoea is often caused by contaminated food or water sources, common in survival scenarios where proper sanitation is unavailable. Drink fluids like coconut water, ginger tea, chamomile tea, and apple cider vinegar mixed with warm water.
  5. Nausea can be caused by motion sickness when travelling long distances on foot or by consuming contaminated food/water sources that cause stomach upset. Ginger root tea has been known to help alleviate nausea symptoms effectively.
  6. Toothaches are often unbearable, but you could try some natural remedies before seeking professional help; rinse your mouth with salt water solution (warm), and apply clove oil directly onto the tooth/ gum line using cotton wool swabbing gently.
  7. Sore throats could result from cold weather conditions, especially during winter; Gargling with a saltwater solution (warm) could help alleviate the soreness and reduce inflammation.

Closing remarks

In conclusion, natural remedies are a great way to treat common ailments in a survival scenario. It is important to have knowledge of these remedies and keep them in mind when preparing for outdoor adventures or emergencies. Remember that if symptoms persist or worsen, it is always best to seek professional medical attention immediately.
